Winner of the 2020 Good Design Long Life Design Award

Since its launch in 1983, the TANKER series, which is synonymous with PORTER, uses original fabric developed with the US Air Force flight jacket MA-1 as a motif. The three-layer fabric, consisting of nylon twill (surface) + polyester cotton (middle layer) + nylon taffeta (back), is very light, and the soft feel of the bonded material and the vivid rescue orange on the back are attractive. Thorough attention to detail is expressed in every process from cutting to sewing and parts.

The colors are black, sage green, and silver gray, and the back is vivid rescue orange. In addition, the metal fittings such as aluminum zippers, snap buttons, and carabiner hooks, which were rare at the time, are intentionally made to peel off so that the aging process will be apparent as they are used.

While following the specifications of the TANKER released in 1983, updates have been made to every detail. In addition, the original color of the TANKER, "sage green," will be reborn in the color it was originally released in 1983.
The metal zipper puller is made using a press manufacturing method, and changes have been made to the color of the interior zipper puller and the specifications of the vinyl pocket. In addition, all 50 models in the series come with an original Porter drawstring bag.
